Eric Telfort (2009) - Residency in ZimbabweThe program I have been selected to be a part of is a three-week program at the National Gallery in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second largest city. The program will consist of workshops, presentations and collaborative art work. I will be given access to a studio within the gallery proper, one of the many studios the Gallery leases out to both established and budding artists. This unique set up will maximize both technical and artistic exchanges between U.S. artists and my Zimbabwean counterpart artists and create the sort of rapport that is at the heart of the Initiative. The Visual Arts initiative’s goals is to foster cultural exchange and mutual understanding through the arts between the people of the United States and Zimbabwe. Most of this is taken from the actual grant itself which I can forward you also if you would like. I am very excited and humbled by the opportunity. – Eric UPDATE FROM THE ACADEMY: 8/27/2010 Here are some press sites for Eric Telfort’s progress in Zimbabwe. Congratulations, Eric, and good job!
