The Harn Museum of Art Asian Wing Expansion is located at the new west gate to the University of Florida. The museum is part of the University of Florida Cultural Plaza, which also includes the Philips Center for the Performing Arts and the Florida Museum of Natural History. The committee is interested in art that keeps in mind in the scope of the new expansion: Asian art.

Integrating art with the natural environment is desired. Ideas of nature are valued, such as the changing seasons; the contrasts between summer and winter, hot and cold, dry and wet, water and sun, etc; universal artistic expression with nature; and the interaction of architecture and nature.
