Assistant Manager: The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts - DC

Salary: High $30s-Low $40s / Yearly.

Duties: This Assistant Manager position will support the Arts Management Institute, a division of the Kennedy Center Education Department, dedicated to offering professional development opportunities to arts managers and technical assistance to arts organizations locally, nationally and internationally.

This is a full-time position that reports to the Manager of the Arts Management Institute. This position will also interact with the Director of the Arts Management Institute and other senior staff.

Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinate all aspects (marketing, admissions, placements, orientation, classes and special events, travel and visa arrangements when needed, and evaluation) related to the successful operation of the following programs: Kennedy Center Fellowships, Kennedy Center Summer International Fellowships, Kennedy Center Internships.
- Maintain positive working relationships with Fellows, Interns, supervisors (Kennedy Center staff, including some senior staff), vendors and sub contractors.
- Maintain communication with Alumni of programs and send updated information as appropriate about the program, and how to keep integrated with the Arts Management Institute.
- Develop and monitor budgets for all programs in consultation with the Manager and Director of the Arts Management Institute.
- Assist with student delegations that come to the Institute to meet with staff (coordinate meeting place and time, gather background information from delegation, collate materials for delegates, and serve as liaison between delegation and Institute).
- Provide administrative and research support for Kennedy Center Arts Management Institute programs as needed.
- Maintain and organize program and participant records in a system (SharePoint, Tessitura, KC Master, Kennedy Center share drive) that other team members can easily comprehend and navigate.

Education/Experience/Skills: The selected candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree and three years work experience, preferably in the performing arts and/or arts management. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated track record in coordinating events and educational programs. Proficiency in MS Office Suite required and proficiency in Tessitura and new media applications preferred. Individual must have strong verbal, written and intrapersonal skills. Excellent organizational and logistical skills (with acute attention to detail); an ability to execute effective multi-tasking.
