Mark DeGarmo & Dancers seek energetic and enthusiastic participants for their Teaching Artist-Teacher Training Institute Summer Intensive 2010.
The institute is an opportunity for prospective and experienced theater,
dance, movement, music, and visual arts teaching artists to develop and
refine their skills in arts-in-education. The institute integrates
seminars and reflective practice to create opportunities for prospective
and experienced teaching artists.

• Schedule:
Tues., Wed., and Thu., July 27, 28, 29 10:00AM to 4:00PM.

• Responsibilities:
This is an 18-hour institute over 3 days. Content
includes: Arts and dance education partnerships grounded in
interdisciplinary and inquired-based teaching and learning methods
connected with reflective practice. Assignments include readings, essays,
and lesson planning.

• Location:
Seminars are at the studio of Mark DeGarmo & Dancers at the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural & Educational Center, 107 Suffolk Street, suite 310, (between Delancey & Rivington Streets, Lower East Side), New York, NY 10002.

• Fees and Financial Aid:
$450, including a non-refundable $75 registration fee for all accepted participants to hold their places in the program (applicable to the tuition). Work study and scholarships are available.

• Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience or interest teaching performing arts to public school students and partnering with their teachers and school communities.
- Interest in developing age-appropriate arts-in-education skills.
- Comfortable in complex public school environments. Flexibility with good problem-solving skills under pressure.
- Openness to learning and professional development in the context of a learning community.
