Assistant Director, Adult Programs (Temporary): The Museum of Modern Art - NY

The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for a
temporary Assistant Director, Adult Programs in its Education
Department.
This assignment is expected to last approximately 8 months.
The incumbent will develop, implement and oversee MoMA’s public programs
offered to adult audiences.

This position requires a high level of creativity and responsibility, and works closely with the Director, Adult and Academic Programs, the seven curatorial departments, the Museum’s director, and a wide range of outside partners to discuss and plan all lectures, symposia, panels, and other programming related to upcoming exhibitions. Research, development, and recommendations for program topics, speakers, and formats are core to this position. The incumbent will oversee full implementation of this programming in all its aspects, including contact with speakers, publicity, and AV arrangements and interfaces with Visitor Services to arrange for ticketing for each event.

Programs must be innovative, meet the core values of the Education Department, complement the exhibitions at the Museum, and offer a variety of options for a range of adult learners in the city.

Qualified candidates will possess a MFA or MA in the field of art education, studio art, or art history and a minimum of seven years working in museum education, preferably in the adult programs area. Ten years of experience is preferred. Knowledge of modern and contemporary art and a minimum of five years teaching experience in museums also required. Public speaking experience required. Experience in planning, organizing and moderating art-related panel discussions required. Excellent writing and management skills. Strong experience in program administration required. Keen attention to time-sensitive tasks, details, and follow-up. Ability to work with other Museum staff and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
