General info:
Hyatt Hotels and Resorts and Canvas Wines, inspired by a love for fine art, wish to inspire others to share their passion of art and wine with the Canvas Artist Series. Hyatt welcomes art students in the 50 United States and D.C. to submit their artistic interpretation of the varietal characteristics of Canvas Wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot. One winner for each varietal wine will receive a $5,000 scholarship and have their artwork featured as a label on a special bottling of Canvas Wines.

Timetable:
Entries must be submitted online at by August 15, 2010

Awards:
Three grand prize winners will win a $5,000 scholarship from Hyatt and have their artwork featured on a special bottling of Canvas Wines
Judging:
Judging will be based on a combination of public voting and other criteria:
a. On-line popular vote (20%)
b. Originality of Finalist’s Artwork creative interpretation of the Varietal Characteristic of one (1) of the Canvas Wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay or Merlot (50%)
c. Originality and appeal of his or her written description of his or her Artwork inspiration and career aspirations of why Finalist would like to be an artist as described in the Essays (30%).

Design Challenge:
Wine Label Art: Art students from an accredited art school or program may create an original artistic representation of the varietal characteristics of the three main Canvas Wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot using original artwork.
