STAY AWAY FROM SEYHOUN GALLERY IN LA

Info below was provided by an alum:

I just wanted to let the school know something you might want to pass on to the students at school. Not to get involved with a particular gallery called Seyhoun Gallery in LA, that will BLACKLIST you (at least they say that) if you don’t co-operate with them. Very damaging for emerging artists. What happened was they are like a vanity gallery who had an open call on NYFA for a show called Europe Now. I applied and was accepted. I wasn’t even sure if they were a real gallery or not but according to Google they have an address on Melrose. Then they wanted all this money for promotions and for me to pay for shipping all the way to LA. I declined because I couldn’t afford the shipping. I never sent the money they said was necessary to secure my spot. No contracts or written agreements were made and not even a phone call was made between us- everything by email. But they insisted I would be in the show. After that they started sending me threatening emails saying there will be consequences for me and that I’m “done.”
