The Alumni Association of the New York Academy of Art is thrilled to offer its annual Retreat at Fieldstones exclusively for alumni of the New York Academy of Art to network and connect professionally and personally.
Professional practices, demonstrations, and the exploration of this property with a swimming hole and mountain views are open and available to only Academy Alumni. Bring art supplies for plein air - as well as marshmallows for campfires. Get to know each other, strengthen your studio practice, and relax by the winding creek at Fieldstones.
This year, the AANYAA and Fieldstones and Windham Fine Arts are presenting an exhibition celebrating the first 5 years of this residency and retreat collaboration. 2023 Retreat participants will have the opportunity to show applicable work in this exhibition (opening reception June 24, 2023, 4-6pm, and on view through mid-summer with possibility of extension).

The 2023 AANYAA Fieldstones Retreat runs from June 20 - June 25. Arrival check-in after 3pm June 20.
Fieldstones is located on a bucolic rural property situated on 100 acres in the northern Hudson Valley, 2.5 hours north of New York City, and 40 minutes southwest of Albany. Alumni are responsible for their own transportation. If needed, car pools may be arranged to Fieldstones from the nearest Amtrak train station (Hudson, or Albany).
viewable by accepted registrants
Alumni will have access to Fieldstones’ artist studios in a large barn onsite. Please bear in mind that, despite Fieldstones’ many amenities (which include WIFI and hot water bathroom access), the location and lodgings are rustic and participants should expect to spend a lot of time outdoors (weather permitting).
$100 is due upon closing of registration. Registration closes May 20th, 2023. Registrations are accepted in the order received: after you apply you will be sent a link to make your payment. Due to limited space, alumni will be accepted to the retreat on a first-come, first-served basis, and any additional applicants will be waitlisted. If accepted alumni do not make their payment by May 20th, their spot will be given to a waitlisted alum.
The $100 registration fee includes lodging and groceries. Retreat organizers will buy groceries ahead of time, there will be shared meals “family style” every evening. Participants will be responsible for putting together/cooking their breakfasts and lunches with the food that is provided. Upon confirmation of registration, alumni will receive more information regarding what to pack for Fieldstones, accommodations, as well as travel directions and info about local grocery stores.
Alumni should be aware that, once registered and paid, there are NO REFUNDS unless paid alumni guarantee a fellow alumni participant replacement. Refunds are not granted for inclement weather during the Retreat. Alumni should register to attend the Retreat assuming this risk.
Fieldstones prohibits smoking in or around barns, house, or tents; no pets allowed.
