NEW YORK ACADEMY OF ART ADMISSIONS OFFICER & FACULTY LIAISON (posted 2/2022)

Location: In-person on campus

Days/Hours: 24 hours/Three days per week

 

POSITION

The New York Academy of Art seeks a part-time Admissions Officer and Faculty Liaison. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Admissions & Registrar, the incumbent will serve as an institutional ambassador and effectively represent the Master of Fine Arts, Certificate of Fine Arts and Summer Undergraduate Residency programs to prospective students and academic colleagues. The Admission Officer will attend and assist in the coordination of in-person and virtual recruitment and enrollment-related events such as Open House, National Portfolio Day, campus visits, tours and summer programing. As Faculty Liaison, the candidate will assist with the weekly operations of the faculty and administrative tasks associated with the Faculty Chair. The ideal candidate has exceptional public speaking capabilities as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills and enthusiasm for working collaboratively. Evening and weekend hours and extensive travel is required. Working in-person on campus and vaccination against COVID-19 is required due to travel and event venue requirements. Training will be provided.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the organization and attend recruitment visits to institutions, conferences, portfolio days and other venues

  • Provide outreach to prospective candidates via phone calls, emails and in-person and virtual recruitment sessions

  • Schedule and conduct tours for prospective students with the assistance of work-study students

  • Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with prospective and past recommenders

  • Maintain and update prospective student and recruitment mailing lists

  • Assist with preparations for and attend Admissions Committee meetings

  • Prepare agenda and take minutes for Faculty Committee, Council and Sub-committee meetings

  • Assist with annual Faculty Orientation

  • Assist Faculty Chair with administrative tasks

  • Create and manage faculty email accounts and distribution lists

  • Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in visual arts or related field (Master’s degree preferred)

  • Exceptional public speaking capability

  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively and work irregular and flexible hours

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to problem solve, multitask, pay close attention to detail and manage time effectively

  • Ability to work independently and work accurately under pressure.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Excel
