After graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in painting, Ms. Ordoveza went on to earn an MFA in painting from the New York Academy of Art and an MAT in art education from George Mason University. She has exhibited her paintings and drawings internationally.
My recent still-life paintings are inspired by places that have been important to me. I present delicate paper-cut objects and tableaus that evoke significant details from my memories. As I slowly build up the paint in layers, I preserve fleeting daylight, a fragile object, and fading memory in a frozen moment. I am interested in exploring themes of home, migration, and impermanence.
