Janet Cunniffe-Chieffo is known for her luminous oil paintings on copper, which reflect a refined technique and jewel-like quality. A cum laude graduate of the New York Academy of Art, she earned her master’s degree in oil painting with a focus on traditional figurative methods.

 

Her work has been featured in Copper in the Arts and on the cover of Connection Magazine, and exhibited in esteemed venues such as the Morris Museum, Salmagundi Club, Greenhouse Gallery, National Arts Club, Lyme Art Association, George Segal Gallery, and the Dahesh Museum. Her paintings are held in private collections across the United States and internationally, including the Saint James Palace Collection in the United Kingdom.

 

Cunniffe-Chieffo is a member of the Oil Painters of America and has received numerous honors for her work in still life, floral, and portrait painting from organizations such as The Artist’s Magazine, the National Association of Women Artists, and the Hudson Valley Art Association. She was commissioned to paint the official portrait of former County Executive Vanderhoef, now part of the permanent collection of Rockland County, New York.

 

She has held several solo exhibitions at Swain Galleries and Studio 7 Fine Art Gallery in New Jersey, where she is represented. Dedicated to arts education, Cunniffe-Chieffo has taught at institutions including the Ridgewood Art Institute, Let’s Create, and the Center for Contemporary Art. She currently serves as a Senior Adjunct Professor at Sussex County Community College, where she teaches life drawing, painting, and portfolio development.
