Jessica Damsky is a practicing artist, curator, professor and department chair, based in South Orange County, CA. Her award-winning work has been shown nationally, and internationally, including at Sotheby's NYC, Seattle Center on Contemporary Arts, Flowers Gallery NYC, and numerous galleries, art centers, and museums. Damsky has won numerous awards, including the Juror’s prize in the 2023 Mythology and Folklore exhibition at the Bonita Museum, the Juror’s Choice award for the 2019 show Motherland at the Center for Contemporary Art in Seattle, WA, and the Strong Voice in Work Award from Hanson Scott Gallery, in Seattle, WA.

 

Damsky’s work addresses the contemporary western mindset towards femininity, and explores how it is shaped by antiquated belief structures. Her current body of work appropriates female archetypes from art history, and shows them under attack.
