I come from a background of self-sufficiency and solitude, and my art is influenced by life’s intense growing pains. Drawing inspiration from my own experiences of growth and self-discovery, my work centers around themes of change, nostalgia, and emotional intimacy present in everyday life. I capture the essence of human experience; a reflection of my ever-evolving relationship with the world around me. I choose to elevate the mundane moments of everyday life, in my eyes small and insignificant moments hold just as much power and beauty as grandiose events. True emotional authenticity can be found through moment-to-moment exploration.
My work often deals with the theme of nostalgia, and the longing for a past that may not have been as idyllic as we remember it. Nostalgia is a powerful tool for understanding and processing our experiences, but it is important to recognize that it can also obscure the truth of our memories.I bridge a connection between the past and the present, and explore the feelings of nostalgia and existential boredom that come with navigating modern life.
I pay homage to the mundane, capturing universal basic experiences that are grounded in the present, yet intertwined with a sense of melancholy. Chosen and found family moments are depicted through organic and chaotic imagery I’ve witnessed rather than artificially created. My process is organic and unplanned, as I strive to capture the chaos and unpredictability of life in my paintings. It is my hope that my work will evoke a sense of empathy and understanding, and inspire viewers to reflect on their own experiences and relationships. Ultimately, my art is an expression of my own journey through life. It is a testament to the beauty and complexity of the human experience, and a celebration of the moments of connection and tenderness that make life so rich and meaningful.
