Lucy holds a B.A. in Studio Art and Cultural Sociology from Vanderbilt University, where she was a Curb Scholar for Creative Enterprise and Public Leadership, and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art, where she was a President's Scholar and has served as adjunct faculty.

She works in both painting and conceptual installation art. Her art centers around the related dichotomies of light and darkness, faith and doubt, and blindness and sight.
