Pragati Gunasekar is an interdisciplinary conceptual artist based in Brooklyn, New York. She received her MFA from the New York Academy of Art in 2025, where she was the Adjunct Faulty in the Summer Residency Program June 2025. Her practice spans painting, sculpture, installation, and stop-motion animation, centering on histories of race, caste, labor, and erasure.
Through projects such as A Tax Paid in Flesh and Cast(e) in India, Pragati reimagines overlooked narratives to open space for critical dialogue around power, resistance, and visibility. She has exhibited in New York and internationally, and continues to develop research-driven, material-based works that bridge local histories and global conversations.
