I have been living and working in Vancouver since 2019. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, I split my time between traditional and digital artwork.
In my work, I focus on still life, often depicting ordinary objects and simple spaces. Working from life is important to me; the act of careful observation invites viewers to do the same with the paintings as well: to reconsider what we might often overlook in our day-to-day lives. I believe mundane subjects can be catalysts for further exploration, standing-in for the human body and highlighting contradictions between high and low, humor and drama.
I am passionate about communicating practical skills to developing artists and demystifying art-making wherever possible. I firmly believe in art-making as a daily practice- a personally meaningful activity that everyone can take part in. I currently teach classes in Vancouver at Canvas Method.
When not in the studio, I love working en plein air and exploring my local area with fellow artists, gouache sketchbook in hand!
